Rigid Foam Under Laminate Flooring

Mary ostberg dec 22 2011 07 20am 9 the reason i started this question was that i didn t want to take the garage ceiling down so i was trying to insulate from the floor side instead of the garage ceiling side even though i know it s better.

I was going to just roll out a layer of that approved thin laminate underlayment foam and then float the laminate over top of that but that will not provide the insulating value i desire. You can attach wood sleepers to the floor fill the gaps with rigid foam insulation and then apply your finish flooring. 1 1 2 rigid insulation can carry allot of weight so i figure if i lay laminate flooring right on top of the insulation i will be good to go. Floor is flat no moisture issues walls are done with 3 foam.
